The trio delivered an outstanding performance on Saturday February 4, with many moved to tears by the interval, and a standing ovation saw the band retake the stage after the second half grand finale when the audience refused to go home without just a little bit more.
With accolades such as Scottish Album of the Year 2022, jazz instrumentalist of the Year 2022, BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist award and having reached the final eight shortlist for the prestigious Mercury Music Award 2022 Fergus McCreadie is flying high.
It was a privilege and a treat to be able to accommodate this performance as part of the wider Arts Programme 2023 curated by Arts Manager Mandy Hampton of Craignish Village Hall.
A very special grand piano was imported for the evening and was accompanied by a double bass and drums and the trio performed tracks from past albums and from the 2022 album Forest Floor.
Funding support was generously provided by The Touring Network and this ensured that tickets were available from only £5 for those on lower incomes to help meet the programme’s current aims of improving access to the arts for all.
The next music event to be hosted by Craignish Village Hall’s Arts Programme is also going to be a real treat when prolific contemporary harpist and singer Esther Swift plays on March 25.
Esther has been compared to Kate Bush, Anna Meredith and Bjork, and creates music
from across genres including classical, folk and jazz. She explores themes of ritual, isolation and connection and draws inspiration from the natural world.
Further information including how to secure tickets is available on the Craignish Village Hall website www.craignish.org.uk and activities can also be followed on the hall’s Facebook and Instagram pages by searching for Craignish Village Hall.
