Arran resident and former professional dancer Fiona Rodriguez performed for reality television show Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite at an event in Edinburgh.
Fiona, who runs FitSteps dance classes at Arran High School, took part in a performance at the FitSteps Fire and Ice Tour. She was one of just 10 Scottish instructors asked to perform at the Edinburgh event.
Fitsteps in an energetic dance class style created by Strictly Come Dancing professionals. It is a high-energy fusion of dance, fitness and fun. FitSteps combines elements of ballroom and Latin dance with aerobic exercise. It’s a vibrant and energetic way to exercise while enjoying popular music.
Speaking about her performance, Fiona said: "I was asked to perform a fusion of Paso Doble and Viennese Waltz to Beautiful Things by Benson Boone. I loved every minute of it. This was followed by three hours of FitSteps masterclasses by Ian Waite and Ian Parks for more than 100 enthusiastic Fitsteppers.”
Before moving to Arran, Fiona owned and operated dance academies in Canada and Chile.
She added: “I am so happy to still be dancing over 40 years later. My FitSteps classes run on Tuesdays in the high school dance studio. They’re a fun workout for all ages and abilities to learn the basics of salsa, cha cha, disco, samba, waltz and more. No partner needed.”
If you would like to learn basic Latin and ballroom steps in a fun and pressure free workout class, join Fiona’s Fitsteps on Tuesday evenings at the dance studio at Arran High School.
