Col-Glen played a pre-season friendly on Saturday, travelling to Newtonmore to take on the club’s first team.
Col-Glen had been due to take on Fort William in Dunoon but there was last minute change which saw the club travelling north instead.
The Mowi National Division side played well against the Premier Division home team at The Eilan, despite Newtonmore taking the lead within four minutes when Cameron McNiven flicked home a long ball from Steven MacDonald.
At 14 minutes, Cameron McNiven set up Iain Robinson who made it 2-0 and the home side carried that advantage into the break.
A third goal for Newtonmore came just before the hour with a Drew MacDonald low 30-yard strike
Off the back of an intense winter training regime, Col-Glen started to gel in the last quarter.
Over-all, it was a great opportunity for 2025 captain Andrew Tyre to lead his men for the first time. New signings for Col-Glen Liam Robertson, and Hunter Black, who returns to the squad, along with Neily McNaughton, who is back from Australia, all impressed.
All in all it was an encouraging day from the boys in yellow and black with plenty of positives to take on board.
Col-Glen squad: S Symons, H Harrison, M McClymont, A Tyre (C), T Irbhinn, C McNaughton, S MacVicar, J Hamilton, M Keith, A Kerr, A MacVicar, S Bulloch, N McNaughton, L Robertson, H Black and A Paterson.
A pre-season friendly for Col-Glen had not been confirmed for Saturday Feburary 8 before the Advertiser went to press but the team hope to take on Lovat first team at Kiltarlity on February 15, throw-up 1.30pm.
