Plans by Upper Achintore Regeneration Group (UARG) to set up a community hub moved forward this week when members met to plan the next steps for this ambitious community-led initiative.
The project, which is dependent on the formation of a new community organisation to buy a site on Heathercroft Drive from current owners HIE then develop a community building to meet the demand for services specific to the area, has the overwhelming backing of residents.
"A consultation in 2023 showed their overwhelming support for a community hub," said UARG chairperson Mark Linfield.
"What we need now to drive the project forward is a group of residents willing to support this ambition by becoming trustees in a new community organisation to be set up for this purpose.
"We are planning a campaign to help promote the community hub and hope this will spark the interest of new activists with the skills, drive, energy and ambition to bring this project to fruition for their families and the future."
