The move is part of ongoing measures to support business recovery from the impact of the pandemic.
Policy lead for roads and transport, Councillor Andrew Kain said: 'Our local independent businesses play a key role in supporting the local economy. Many of them are still dealing with the impact of the pandemic. By providing free parking, we hope residents will continue to support local shops and keep spending local.'
Other council Christmas arrangements include bin services - only collections on Tiree will change, the rest of Oban, Lorn and the Isles will keep to their normal scheduled days.
Over on Tiree, refuse collections due on Monday December 26 will be on Wednesday December 28 instead. Refuse collections due on Tuesday December 27 will be on Thursday December 29. And recycling blue bin collections due on Wednesday December 28 will move to Friday December 30.
Recycling and civic amenity sites at Gott Bay on Tiree, Moleigh near Oban and Glengorm at Mull will be closed on December 25 and 26 as well as January 1 and 2.
