Willow lantern making workshops over half-term transformed Craignish Village Hall into a magical underwater world at the weekend.
As part of the village hall’s arts programme, Tara Coggans led children and adults in four days of workshops to create sea creatures and plants that can be found in Loch Craignish.
The preview on Friday started with the community’s fish lanterns emerging from the loch and weaving a dance
up into the village hall, where they joined the other exhibits.
On Saturday, Philip Price from charity Seawilding took visitors on a tour of the exhibits - in full wetsuit and
snorkel - telling them about the ecosystem of the loch and explaining the importance of the native sea grass and oyster restoration projects taking place now.
Storyteller Patsy Dyer also came along to enthral visitors with tales of selkies and sea monsters, while children from Craignish School contributed their own sea-themed stories which were specially written for the event.
The Under The Sea Exhibition wowed lots visitors who also felt calmed by its magic, said Rachel Rogers from Craignish Village Hall.
She added: "It’s wonderful to have these creative workshops that focus on our very own loch.
"We have learned so much about the underwater habitat in our community and more importantly how to
look after it.
"The hall was transformed into the most beautiful underwater habitat. The children loved it and really got a lot out of it. They have already started talking about next year’s project and provided me with drawings and writing for a Celtic Forrest theme – we can’t wait!"
This project was funded by Creative Scotland, The Craignish Trust and Craignish Village Hall. It was supported by many volunteers, as well as Craignish School, Seawilding and all those who visited.
