Hundreds of children descended upon Dunbeg on Thursday after a mum created her very own Hallowe’en haunted house.
Natalie Pacitti transformed her garden at Marine Court into a scary spectacle that looked straight out of a horror film.
The setup featured hay bales, pumpkins, creepy animated dolls, handmade props, skeletons, spiders, and “actors” dressed as iconic movie villains.
Natalie, who owns Oro Rosa Make-Up and Beauty, had made up 170 goodie bags ahead of the event, however, they did not last long.
“Thank you so much to everyone who came, we reckon we had 300 plus people there and loved every minute of every laugh, scream, chase, and scare.”
Taking three days off work to prepare, the beauty salon owner was committed to giving the youngsters a Hallowe’en to remember.
The scarefest got underway at 5.30pm and ran until 9pm, with the first hour dedicated to younger children.
“I’ve always loved Hallowe’en, Natalie said. “My real love started around six years ago when I started doing a thing called 31 days of Hallowe’en, which is a challenge to do a different make-up look every single day in October.
“So when I got my own house I couldn’t wait to answer the door and give out bags, but I realised a little effort meant a lot to the kids. So every year I just thought about giving them more.”
With that in mind, Natalie wanted to do something special this year.
“I feel like Hallowe’en isn’t what it used to be,” she explained. “There’s not really much for kids anymore and you start to see less Hallowe’en things in the shops in October.
“You start to see less costumes being brought in, less decorations being brought in, less people answering their door, less people making an effort, so I wanted to try and bring back Hallowe’en for the kids and bring something that can get them excited.”
She added: “Thank you to my dad and my partner David for helping. Huge thanks to Freddie, Lisa, Jorgie, and Kelsey for joining in to help scare – especially Freddie, who kept everyone on edge as a terrifying clown!”
Residents raved about the event afterwards.
Fiona Macaulay said: “Natalie, it was absolutely fantastic, scariest Hallowe’en I’ve ever had around here, it was absolutely petrifying.”
Robyn Braidwood added: “Yous are all brilliant. I love how enjoyable you have made Hallowe’en for everyone – set up, costumes scaring the living hell out of me. Amazing guys. Well done.”
