Residents of Kintyre Care Centre celebrated Valentine’s Day in heart-warming style as part of a busy month of activities so far.
The care home’s kitchen staff prepared a special meal for residents to enjoy with their loved ones on February 14, with plenty of drinks flowing and some lovely gifts exchanged on the day.
The month’s events kicked off on February 4 with a visit from Campbeltown Nursery Centre as part of the home’s ongoing intergenerational project.
“We had lots of fun playing games and making lots of noise with our musical instruments with our friends from the nursery as part of our intergenerational activities,” said senior wellbeing coordinator Susan Ellis.
The fun continued on February 6 when staff and residents were delighted to welcome Huggy the therapy pony and his handler Caeleigh Kean from Hugs of Argyll.
“We had a wonderful visit from Huggy and Caeleigh, who also brought her mum along on the visit,” said Susan.
“Huggy went round spending time with all the residents of Kintyre Care Centre. We always enjoy our visits from Huggy and already have the next one planned.”
Last but not least, 14 care home residents attended a private screening of the 1952 musical romantic comedy film Singin’ in the Rain at Campbeltown Picture House on February 13, inviting friends from the Elderberries group, Woodlands Resource Centre and Youth Impact to join them.
“We had a fantastic time and were treated to tea, coffee and hot chocolate by the wonderful staff at the cinema,” said Susan. “We had a fantastic time and are all looking forward to our next screening in March.”
