Crerar Hotels, which owns the Loch Fyne Hotel and Spa in Inveraray, as well as the Isle of Mull Hotel in the island's Craignure, and the Oban Bay Hotel, is sharing out the bumper seven-figure sum as a quarterly reward for its employees 'outstanding service' in spa and hospitality settings.
The extra funds have been announced off the back of a change of policy; Crerar introduced an optional 10 per cent service charge at its hotels in October last year, which they say 'gives guests a simple way to reward team members for outstanding service during lunch, dinner, afternoon tea or spa treatments'.
The Fair Fund is paid to more than 200 employees, across all departments on an equal basis.
Known as the Fair Fund, Crerar says it means team members earn around £1,000 on top of their wages, with their payment being proportionate to the number of hours worked during the previous three months.
'For some, this means a £2,000 top-up for three months of excellent service, all recognised and rewarded by Crerar Hotels guests.
Chris Wayne-Wills, CEO of Crerar Hotels, said: 'The Fair Fund amount is directly related to guests' experience at our hotels and 100 per cent of the amount raised in this way goes directly back to our teams, in a completely fair, transparent structure.'
