Children and bears partied together at the Lochaber Hope Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Saturday, held at Fort William’s New Connections.
Twelve children, plus parents, bears, pigs, and a selection of other animals, dined on jam sandwiches, a selection of fruit and vegetables, and teddy bear crisps.
Led by New Connections Project Worker Sian McWalter, the children also read Michael Rosen’s ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, decorated biscuits, drew, had a dance party, and played musical statues with their teddies.
The children all also received a certificate to remember the day.
Juliette Garrett, Project and Marketing Manager at Lochaber Hope, said the day had been a roaring success.
“All the little kids loved it and it did what we wanted it to do, which was to start engaging the kids young and getting them to know the space. Hopefully they’ll come along to future events and progress through all the different sort of awards that are on offer,” Ms Garrett said.
“Well done to Sian - she did a fabulous job - and thank you to all the people who came along because they all said they really enjoyed it and made the effort to come in. It was really nice to see so many people.”
