A trio of primary seven pupils from Lundavra Primary School went down the political route earlier this month when looking for a subject to fulfil a topical task.
Parker Kennedy, Lucas MacMillan and Harvey Duffus chose Angus MacDonald as their Local Inspirational Figure - the title of their most recent topic.
Each sent their own questionnaire to him enabling them to create a slideshow and present it to their classmates.
Angus, graciously replied, allowing the boys to present their own individual findings to the class.
The trio then emailed Angus’s secretary in the House of Commons, requesting that Angus visit their school to allow pupils and staff to meet him and answer any questions that their fellow scholars had.
The visit also tied in with the Lundavra pupil’s campaign to rid their route to the swimming pool and wider area of dog poo. Correspondence relating to which was also sent by pupils to Mr MacDonald in great numbers.
Patience and perseverance paid off, as was proven when the Member of Parliament for Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire walked through the doors of Lundavra Primary School.
Speaking to the Lochaber Times this week Mr MacDonald said: "It was great to visit Lundavra Primary School.
"What a wonderful campaign the kids have got going. Hopefully it will shame grown up dog owners who don’t bag their dog poo to become more civilised.
"I spoke to the boys and girls about the importance of always picking up rubbish, Lochaber would benefit from a spring clean."
Angus presented Parker, Lucas and Harvey with a certificate stating how inspiring they were in their determination in getting him to visit the school.
He also talked about his life as a local and what drew him to become a Member of Parliament then answered several questions from his audience.
