Inveraray Shinty Club held its annual dinner dance and awards evening on Saturday at the Inveraray Inn, with special guest Newtonmore legend John MacKenzie MBE in attendance to give out the awards.
To present the players’ awards was John MacKenzie MBE, who is a Honorary Chieftain of the Camanachd Association and someone who had a hugely successful playing career for Newtonmore winning a double figures number of Camanachd Cup medals between 1962 and 1983.
John has been an incredible supporter of the game at all levels over many years and has also been the driving force behind the Shinty Memories project, for which he is an ambassador. The club were truly honoured John could be there on the night to hand out the awards.
The prizes were presented on the night to:
Ross Anderson - 2nd Team Players’ Player Of The Year and Coaches’ Player Of The Year; David Robertson - 2nd Team Top Goalscorer; Zoe McKillop - Ladies Players’ Player Of The Year; Katie MacKay - Ladies Top Goalscorer; Dana Clarkson - Coaches’ Ladies Player Of The Year; Douglas Cameron - U17 Player Of The Year; Ross Montgomery - 1st Team Coaches’ Player Of The Year; Fraser Watt - 1st Team Top Goalscorer; Campbell Watt - 1st Team Players’ Player Of The Year.
