Football star signs up to back singer's charity mission

Iona went to the player’s ground on Saturday November 23 to watch the match but ended up helping to shovel snow off the pitch with other hardy volunteers.

Unfortunately the match was still called off but Iona met up with Reghan in the boardroom instead, where he signed copies of her band’s Christmas songs EP CD, which was released on digital platforms on Monday November 25.

The special signed and numbered 150 limited edition CDs are available at Clachan Filling Station and at The Pharmacy in Tarbert and profits will go directly to Reghan’s appeal supporting mental health charities.

Reghan plays professionally for Hamilton Accies and is committed to promoting positive mental health practises both on and off the pitch. He is also an ambassador for Head In the Game.

Iona, from Clachan, said: “As an Accies fan, it is great to support the work Reghan is doing.

“We wrote and released a song called Headspace earlier this year with Anavrin [her former band] and the song is about how best we can support young people struggling with mental health issues.

“We have continued to play it all summer with After You and it seems to connect with audiences of all ages.

“This new EP is an upbeat effort at our favourite Christmas songs. Hopefully people enjoy it and it raises some vital funds at the same time.”

The video for the track also features Gaia Silvan from Clachan and she is also a former pupil at Tarbert Academy.

After You will play a special set at Paisley Abbey on December 7 at the Rainbow Valley Charity Concert and a set at Hamilton Accies FC.
