Described as a 'soundwalk through time', the project was conceived by local composer Jamie Smith, who worked with Penny Cousins of Appin Community Development Trust, to create a new and exciting tourist resource.

The soundwalk enables visitors to engage with aspects of the area’s history and environment through a set of immersive soundtracks that can be listened to either on location or from the comfort of home.
Writer Deborah Templeton has drawn from a wide range of local sources to create a poetic evocation of Appin ancient and modern, rich in history, legend, geology, flora and fauna, beautifully brought to life though the narration of Scottish actor Kelly Macdonald, and the highly evocative music and sound design of Jamie Smith.

The accompanying illustrations and photography are by Charlotte Smith; local artist Fiona Hunter has created the soundwalk map; and Duncan MacNeil of Ionad Gaidhlig Furan worked with Appin Primary School to provide a charming introduction to local Gaelic words and place names.

Echoes of Appin is supported by Creative Scotland and available for purchase through www.echoesofappin.org, with all proceeds going to support the work of Appin Community Development Trust.
In addition to appealing to local visitors, those further afield with an interest in Appin will also enjoy accessing the soundwalk and map, downloading the audio, putting on their headphones, and letting their imagination transport them to Appin, wherever in the world they might be.
