A Kintyre distillery is among Scotland’s rural champions in the running for coveted honours as the Helping it Happen Awards 2024 shortlist is unveiled.
Organised by Scottish Land & Estates and sponsored by NatureScot, the awards celebrate the businesses and individuals making remarkable contributions to the vibrancy and sustainability of Scotland’s countryside across 11 diverse categories, including education, conservation, farming and rural business.
Beinn an Tuirc Distillers, producers of Kintyre Gin and other award-winning spirits, have been shortlisted for the Tourism & Visitor Management Award, sponsored by chartered architects and building surveyors GLM.
Based at Torrisdale Estate, the business has grown over the last decade and now boasts a café, shop, gin school and geodesic dome that hosts wellness retreats, promoting ‘slow tourism’ and keeping sustainability at the heart of the estate.
Other finalists from Argyll include: Mount Stuart Trust, Bute, for the Working with Communities Award; Glengorm Farming Partnership, Mull, for the Rural Property Award; and Sophie Handley of The Estates Office, Oban, for the Rural Rising Star Award.
