This week's article featuring criticism of the Burnside Square's new look is not the first time such coverage has appeared in the Courier.
The consensus of opinion from the information given when the works were announced was that it would be unnoticeable, that nothing about the square would really change, but that a tank would be installed under the ground.
The result, however, has seen a stark change from the greenery, and blossom in the spring, for which the square was well known.
Of course, the flood works are bringing much-needed improvements to the town and are not yet fully complete, so we hope that the community's opinion will be taken into consideration when the final design decisions are made.
The sun always seems to shine for Kintyre Agricultural Show – even when the weeks preceding it have been very wet!
There was only one shower of note at last Friday's event and even that was not enough to dampen anyone's spirits, with farming and non-farming families and friends relishing the occasion.
Hopefully the weather will be as kind to those out and about this week for the 30th live Mull of Kintyre Music Festival.
