Crew Commander Robert Strang's King's Fire Service Medal is just reward for decades of quiet dedication to the Carradale community.
Robert is well known as the village's fire chief but, despite that, many people may only now be learning about some of his many achievements during his more than 35 years of service.
Perhaps more than most, Robert carries out his duty without expectation of recognition or reward.
We are glad his selfless commitment has been recognised on the national stage and Robert will now have the honour of being one of the first Scots to wear a King's Fire Service Medal awarded by King Charles III.
The recent spate of fly-tipping in Kintyre has horrified the community.
Thankfully, outwith the last few weeks, this is a rare occurrence here but we must remain vigilant in reporting any instances to the council to prevent those carrying out the illegal act from thinking it is acceptable and risk it becoming commonplace.
Kintyre's usually unspoilt beauty is one of its biggest attractions.
