Jubilee joy
While platinum jubilee celebrations across Kintyre looked lovely, Southend pulled out all the stops to mark the Queen's historic 70-year reign.
Regardless of opinions on the royal family and a hereditary monarchy, no-one can deny the Queen is extremely hard-working and has served her country tirelessly since she was crowned in 1952.
It is a pity nothing large-scale was planned in Campbeltown, but residents from across Kintyre were welcomed with open arms to Southend's celebrations.
The Queen is now the longest-reigning incumbent monarch and the longest-reigning female monarch in recorded history and today (Friday) she is just two days away from being the second longest-reigning monarch ever.
Aside from marking her historic reign, the jubilee presented a fantastic opportunity to celebrate community spirit and togetherness.
For many people, particularly older citizens, these were the first big gatherings since the beginning of the pandemic.
It is fitting it was in honour of such a momentous occasion, a platinum jubilee which none of us alive today is likely to witness again.
