The Campbeltown branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS) has thanked everyone who donated to this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal, with a brilliant total of £4,175.37 collected across the town and parish.
The Scottish Poppy Appeal is Scotland’s largest fundraising campaign and takes place annually in the lead up to Remembrance Sunday in November.
Members of the RBLS Campbeltown branch joined more than 10,000 volunteers in distributing three million poppies across Scotland, ensuring that poppies and tins were displayed in shops and businesses and carrying out collections in supermarkets and other venues.
“Poppy Scotland will use the money to provide support for current and former members of the armed forces as well as their families,” explained branch chairman George Rahman. “This support is in recognition of their sacrifices and service.
“Poppy Scotland has helped countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the armed forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life.
“They even help with needs that have arisen long after someone has left the armed forces. Whenever, wherever support is needed, they are here.
“Once again, thank you to everyone who donated for their continued support for the appeal. Service not self.”
