I wish to put a positive spin on the article regarding the possible closure of The Original Factory Shop in last week's Courier.
It is very sad that jobs may be lost in the town and that another building may be left empty.
If the closure does go ahead I hope people in the town pop into the other local shops to make their purchases and support local businesses.
With the demise of the High Street it is crucial that people try where possible to shop locally.
I did not stock certain products in my shop because I could never compete with customers going to TOFS first.
I will certainly be offering more of a selection if it bridges that gap and makes it available to buy locally.
We just need to educate locals to source locally first rather than not trying and automatically going online.
If the town is not supported by its people the TOFS building will not be the only vacant shop premises turning our local gem into a ghost town.
