Campbeltown RNLI is seeking a new volunteer to join its crew to help with the running of the town’s lifesaving lifeboat station.
Recruitment is underway for a volunteer to join the existing team in the role of ‘launch authority’, which involves carrying out day-to-day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service.
The volunteer will be responsible for authorising the launch of the lifeboats; providing leadership in the absence of the lifeboat operations manager or as delegated; and ensuring that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment ready to be launched.
According to the crew, the successful candidate should be a team player, a good communicator and someone with leadership skills and local maritime knowledge, while IT literacy and a knowledge of the RNLI would be desirable.
They must live or work within 15 minutes of the station and be aged between 18 and 70.
Anyone interested in applying can visit the RNLI website at rnli.org/support-us/volunteer/volunteering-opportunities or present themselves at Campbeltown Lifeboat Station and ask for David Conner.
But be quick – the closing date for applications is Sunday, January 19.
