Governance arrangements for the new local authority, including senior councillor structure and associated remuneration, were agreed last Thursday at The Highland Council meeting.
Fort William and Ardnamurchan ward councillor Thomas MacLennan, Independent, was appointed chairman of the Pensions Committee, while fellow ward councillor, Dr Kate Willis, Green, becomes vice chairman of the Council Climate Change Committee.
Councillor Willis told us: 'I am delighted to be elected as vice-chairperson of the Climate Change Committee and I am looking forward to working with the chairperson, Councillor Karl Rosie, on the new committee.
'It is time to focus on the climate and ecological crises and implement the changes we desperately need to tackle them and build a stronger, sustainable, green future for the Highlands.'
