It’s time to start the next full season of the Lochaber Local History Society and we begin on Monday September 4 with Alex Gillespie speaking under the intriguing title, Minor Adventures on Wheels.
Alex and his wife Mary have been central to all things outdoors in Lochaber for nearly 60 years. They are never absent from local events which Alex has recorded over many years as a professional photographer.
Alex insists his talk will be part historical and part biographical, and undoubtably the Pulp Mill, mountains and mountain rescue will feature. This evening should not be missed.
The season will continue with talks by Noel Williams, Neil MacLeod, Mary Miers, the return of Kenny Grant, and others. Titles include The Wonders of Glen Nevis, The Forfeited Estates of Lochiel, Lochaber to the Cosmos, and Schooldays in Fort William 50 years ago.
The first meeting is on Monday September 4 at 8pm in the Highland Cinema. Some 50 folk have already bought season tickets, but many are still available priced £25 for all eight talks – or £5 for single talks. Expecting to see you on Monday night. Seats will be reserved for all season ticket holders.
