This year’s annual Lochaber Model & Craft Show falls on Saturday May 4 and once again will fill the Nevis Centre in Fort William with a wide selection of all things model and craft related.
A few extra Star Wars displays are expected this year, with exhibitors travelling from as far away as Bradford and Preston to support the show. As always, the aim is to bring as much variety in the exhibits as possible including displays by members of the Tartan Lego Users Group and The Meccano Society of Scotland.
When combined with the range of crafters who will be selling everything from candles to walking sticks, home-baking to knitted baby jackets, it is a day out with a difference.
A good selection of traders will also be in attendance.
Footfall has increased yearly since the event was established ten years ago, with the Nevis Centre now being the only venue with enough floor space to fulfil the needs of the show.
The aim of the show is to bring all things model and craft related to the public, to let children see different hobbies, let exhibitors show off their work and to raise money for charities.
Organiser Robert Wilson told the Lochaber Times: “The expenses involved in running a show like ours are frightening and not to be under estimated. “To combat this, we bend the ear of local businesses. Everyone we ask is very supportive and we are very grateful of this support. “This helps cover our costs and, in turn, allows the entry and raffle money to be donated to charity. This year we will divide the profits between The Scottish Charity Air Ambulance, Lochaber Woman’s Aid and Lochaber Hope.”
Costs may have gone up but the entrance prices remain the same as last year with adult entry £3 and children £2.
