Many congratulations to our very own happy snapper Iain Ferguson who has reached a landmark 50 years in journalism across a variety of mediums.
Iain joined the Lochaber News in 1996 and has remained a much valued member of the team ever since. Now working as a freelancer he contributes weekly news, community and sport items to the Lochaber Times.
Primarily a highly-skilled photographer, Iain is also well versed in the written word and is editor and chief of Lochaber Life, which he fills with features on local matters on a monthly basis.
As well as following his vocation, Iain is deeply involved in his community. In the voluntary sector he is chairman of Lochaber Phoenix Boxing Club and mentors with MCR Pathways at Lochaber High School.
On top of these rolls he also helps out and contributes to many community groups and charitable organisations, always with a smile, a cheery word, and some invaluable advice.
Very much a family man, over the last year or so Iain has intimated that he may at some point want to step back a bit, but that doesn’t look like happening any time soon - his enthusiasm for his work is as keen now as it has ever been.
It’s in his blood and long may we and the wider Lochaber community benefit.
