Lochgilphead Bowling Club came home with Marie Douglas Trophy following two rounds with Tayvallich Bowling Club on this 30th anniversary year of the competition.
Lochgilphead travelled to Tayvallich after finishing the first round at their home club leading 61-46.
The second leg, on Saturday March 22, saw Lochgilphead with a reduced complement of players, so a few players had to play in two teams during the day.
In the first round of games the results were: game 1 - Tayvallich 5 Lochgilphead 2; Game 2 - Lochgilphead 12 Tayvallich 3; game 3 - Tayvallich 10 Lochgilphead 4; game 4 - Tayvallich 10 Lochgilphead 7.
There was then a break in play for some wonderful food provided by the Tayvallich club.
Tayvallich had the upper hand winning three of the first round’s games but Lochgilphead started to claw back some of the lost shots in the second phase.
The results were: game 5 - Tayvallich 11 Lochgilphead 1; game 6 - Lochgilphead 10 Tayvallich 5; game 7 - Lochgilphead 8 Tayvallich 3; game 8 - tied 5 shots all.
The total for day was Tayvallich 52 – Lochgilphead 49.
The score carried forward was Lochgilphead 61 Tayvallich 46.
As the trophy is played on a shots won basis over two legs, the final total for the competition was Lochgilphead 110 Tayvallich 98.
A vote of thanks was given to all the bowlers, for the fantastic food and to all who helped to make the day run smoothly.
