Local residents and communities in and around Oban are being invited by Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) to share their ideas for the long-term plans on a local section of forest and land.
The consultation is for the creation of a new Land Management Plan (LMP) for Ariogan, south of Oban, and will look to protect and enhance riparian corridors and priority habitats whilst exploring opportunities to create a mix of woodland types where appropriate.
A drop-in public information and consultation session will be held at the Rockfield Centre in Oban on Thursday June 20, from 2-6.30pm.
Susannah Hughes, Planning Forester for FLS, said: “Forestry management is a long-term activity so we want to get the ideas and views of local people and communities for the future management of this area of land near Ariogan.
“We know that local residents have a strong connection with their woodlands, so we’re inviting everyone with an interest to come along to the drop-in session in Oban and offer their thoughts and ideas to help us draw up the proposals to manage this site.
“By bringing a diverse range of ideas to the table, we can ensure we are looking after our natural environment and at the same time support partnerships with and opportunities for communities.”
