The Camanachd Association and W M Donald are delighted to present the draw for the 2025 W M Donald MacTavish Cup first round.
This year marks W M Donald’s first year as sponsor, a new venture for the civil engineering organisation who are committing to supporting community sport.
The draw took place at W M Donald’s head office in Stonehaven on Monday February 10.
The draw has produced some fascinating matchups, with clubs eager to take their next step towards lifting one of shinty’s most prestigious trophies: Mowi North Division 1 champions Strathglass were the first team out of the hat and were paired up with fellow National Division side Kilmallie.
The only team from the area leagues, Inverness, were handed a short trip down Loch Ness as they face Glenurquhart at Blairbeg Park.
2023 finalists Skye welcome 42-time champions Newtonmore, while holders Kingussie plays host to Premiership new boys Beauly.
In the final tie of the round, Caberfeidh travel to local rivals Lovat.
There were byes Fort William, Kinlochshiel and Lochaber meaning that across the ties and byes, three Mowi National Division sides will be in the hat for the Quarter-Final Draw.
Ian Gray, Operations Director at W M Donald, said: "At W M Donald, we believe in building strong communities, and supporting the MacTavish Cup is a natural extension of that.
"Shinty embodies teamwork, resilience, and passion—values we hold dear.
"We look forward to an exciting tournament and wish all teams the very best."
Burton Morrison, President of the Camanachd Association, added: "The MacTavish Cup always delivers drama and showcases the best of north shinty.
"We’re thrilled to have W M Donald on board for 2025, strengthening the competition as we kick off another exciting season.
"This initial draw has set the stage for some fantastic contests, and I’m sure fans across the country will be eagerly anticipating the action."
Ruari Davidson, CEO of the Camanachd Association, said: "Building strong partnerships is vital to the future of our sport, and we’re delighted to welcome W M Donald as title sponsor of the MacTavish Cup.
"Their commitment to community values and sustainability aligns perfectly with shinty’s traditions.
"We look forward to working together to enhance this historic competition."
