Mike Lewus, a technical adviser from Sheffield, will undertake the Hebrides 4 Hearts and Minds challenge from April 16 to 25.
'Last October I cycled from Stornoway to Castlebay and, after finishing the trip, I immediately began to consider a new and bigger challenge,' he told The Oban Times.
After deciding to bike from Port of Ness to Vatersay and back again, Mike thought: 'I may as well help others less fortunate than myself to benefit too.'
He will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation and the mental health charity SANE.
Mike said they were 'two charities close to my heart, mainly because the sufferers the charities support include former family members and a friend'.
Mike, who visits the Western Isles for at least one week a month, first 'discovered' the charm of Scotland 10 years ago.
He said: 'Following a first trip of discovery to the Scottish Highlands and Western Isles 10 years ago, I found myself amazed by the beauty of the Scottish landscape.'
