This weekend Lochgilphead will showcase the talents of young musicians from Mid Argyll and beyond thanks to the welcome return of a much-missed festival.
The annual Mid Argyll Music Festival has not been held for six years despite a proud 45-year history, but now it has been relaunched with a two-day programme that will kick off on Friday March 21.
Running from 9.30am on the Friday until the winners’ concert at 4pm on Saturday March 22, the festival will be hosted at Ardrishaig Public Hall, Dalriada Mid Argyll Lochgilphead Church and at Lochgilphead Joint Campus.
Brass and woodwind instrumentalists as well as singers and choirs will compete in a variety of categories, including solos, duets and ensembles, many of which are divided into beginner and intermediate levels.
The winners’ concert at the end of the festival will take place in the main hall of the Joint Campus and will highlight the best performances from over the two days.
Tickets can be bought at the door for each of the events and on Saturday lunches, teas and coffees will be on sale for all to enjoy at the campus.
