Mr Blackford's comments came after Ms Truss announced she was standing down after just 45 days in No 10 Downing Street, following weeks of economic turmoil and the departure of ministers.
'It was inevitable Liz Truss would have to go after the damage she's inflicted, but merely swapping leaders of a broken Tory government is not enough. There must now be a general election - people will accept nothing less,' he added.
