It is one of five projects across Scotland to be awarded a share of £1m UK government funding.
Commenting on the announcement, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party MSP for Highlands and Islands Halcro Johnston said: "I welcome the £280,000 investment in Kyle of Lochalsh for a community grocery shop and café.
"This is a fantastic project that will make a huge difference to the area, providing employment and a much-needed service for the community.
"This is another example of the UK government's commitment to supporting rural communities in Scotland. This investment will help ensure people in more rural areas have access to essential services and amenities many of us take for granted.
"I am pleased to see this investment from the UK government and I look forward to seeing the results of this project in future."
