NHS Highland urges people to take up flu vaccine opportunities

Influenza infection can be very serious, with older individuals and those with certain pre-existing health conditions at risk of more significant complications.

The levels of infection that are being seen are leading to admissions to hospital with flu. An NHS Highland spokesperson said: “Vaccination is the best protection we have against flu and Covid-19 and we would encourage all eligible individuals to take up the offer of free vaccination to protect yourself and your family.”

Check www.nhsinform.scot/wintervaccines to find out if you are eligible and for those that are the following drop-in clinics are available for flu and/or COVID 19:

• Mid Argyll Hospital: January 15, 10am-3.30pm
• Portree – Portree Hospital: January 15 and 22, 3-4pm
• Oban – Scout Hall: January 16, 10am-1pm 1.30-3pm
• Cowal Community Hospital: January 22, 9.15am-1pm and 1.30-4pm
• Fort William – Advancing Manufacturing Centre (AMC): January 22, 10am-noon, 1-3pm; January 27, 1-3pm;
• Campbeltown Hospital: January 23, 10am-3.30pm.

No appointment is necessary. If you want to receive your vaccine but there is no drop-in clinic near you please contact the Service Delivery Centre on 08000 320 339 to discuss options.
