Questions have been asked about a council policy banning photos being taken on Argyll’s piers and in its harbours.
Ross Wilson from OCHDA (Oban Community Harbour and Development Association) was at last week’s Oban Lorn and The Isles Area Committee to ask how council officials planned to enforce the ban.
He asked committee members for their views on Port Rule 17.
"If families are taking photos without approval of the council what will happen?" he asked.
The meeting on Wednesday March 12 heard the policy was in place in case it was needed, such as if there was a situation where the council did not want people to take photos such as an accident or incident where someone was injured or killed.
Assurance was given the policy would never be used to stop a family taking photos.
Committee chairperson councillor Julie McKenzie said she was content with the "fairly robust policy" but would be open to any suggestions from the public about suggested amendments.
Councillor Amanda Hampsey told the meeting: "It would be over the top for us to suggest you can’t take pictures of your children."
Mr Wilson said he believed he had still not got a satisfactory answer, saying the policy made it "quite clear" there was to be no photography on the piers or harbours.
Councillor McKenzie said: "We have confidence that our pier and harbour managers could mamange the policy as they go about their job."
