Oban athletes run for cardiovascular health

Runners and dogs alike ran for a great cause as they tackled the annual Argyll Beats Cardiovascular Disease (ABCD) 10K race and fun run on Sunday May 14.

 

In the Senior 10K race, which started at Oban's Lorn and Islands hospital, the fastest of 44 runners was Rory Dowd with a time of 34 minutes, 33 seconds.

He was followed by Ewan Dowd (35.37) and Russel Daniels (35.55) in the male category as Jessica Findlay was fastest women with a time of 44.46.

 

Jessica was also the fastest Ladies Veteran, as she was closely followed by Eleanor Wood (46.18) and Suzie Annis (47.27) in second and third.

 

Gavin Morrison was the fastest Men's Veteran in 38.30, with Luke Taylor the first under-16 runner.

 

Meanwhile, in the ABCD Junior Fun Run, Olivia Carsow was the fastest in the 3-7 years race, as Polly Smith and Charlotte Gillivray also finished on the podium.

 

Fiona Wallace was first in the girls 8-14 years race as Innes McKinney, Murphy Mclean and Finn MacDonald made up the top three in the boys 8-14 years race.
