Corran Halls was lit up on the night of Tuesday December 10, as Oban Hospice hosted a night of remembrance with this year’s Light Up A Life.
Now in its 19th year in Oban, Light Up A Life invites people to remember their loved ones who have passed away by candle light.
The tradition is global for hospices, and was brought to Oban by board member Anne May.
The evening’s standout moment is the illumination, as the festive lights of Corran Halls are switched on and revealed to the crowd, they remember those who they have lost.
Each light on the Christmas tree is dedicated to someone who has passed, the full book of dedications is displayed nearby and can be added to alongside a donation to Oban Hospice’s Dove Centre.
Oban Hospice trustee and board member John MacKenzie led the service with carols and reflection, joined by reverends Alex MacCallum and Stuart Lawson for prayer.
The hospice gave thanks to its supporters, especially for its upcoming move to a new Dove Centre which is scheduled to open in March.
For those who missed the event, it was streamed on Facebook and can be viewed for the next 30 days.
