Grouped with Bishopton, Glasgow Accies and the President select seven, they had a tough afternoon ahead.
A pulsating opening game against Bishopton finished 21-21, despite Oban being 14-0 down at the half, followed by beating Presidents 7, 57-0 and finishing off by losing to a very clinical Accies Outfit - the eventual cup winners.
The boys ended up in the shield final, winning 50-0 and bringing home some much celebrated silverware to their Glencruitten trophy cabinet.
This performance was preceded by finishing in the cup semi finals at Mull 7s, losing to premiership side Boroughmuir 12-0. They also brought home the ‘Best of the West’ trophy, being the best team from the West of Scotland at the tournament.
The boys also travelled to Hamilton 7s in early May as the lowest ranked team in attendance, and pulled a great performance to finish as runners up in the shield, missing out to a strong GHA side.
Throughout the 7s season, the team took some big premiership and national scalps, showing they can play with the best ahead of the 22/23 season and produced some fine champagne rugby when it mattered most.
