With a new year approaching, perhaps a new challenge or career change is on the cards. UHI Argyll has a range of courses starting this January and is hosting an Open Day on Wednesday 13th November where you can find out more. As a partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, we also have access to a wide range of degree and postgraduate programmes starting in Autumn 2025.
Our centres will be open from 10am to 9pm on the day so you can visit your local centre at a time that suits you. You will have the opportunity to find out about our wide range of course options, get advice on funding and student support, or try out one of our taster lessons to get a feel for what it’s like to study with us.

For those interested in beauty, be sure to pop down to our college salon where our students will be demonstrating popular treatments like manicures and facials. If you’re lucky you might even get the chance to indulge in a treatment yourself!

If you’re thinking about a career in Engineering, you might be interested in our Metalwork taster session being held at our Construction, Engineering and Renewables Centre based in the Kilmory Industrial Estate. You’ll have the chance to create your very own metal bracket from scratch, using tools such as a hacksaw, angle grinder, vice, drill and pop rivet gun to secure the pieces together.

We have a number of online sessions running throughout the day so even if you’re not able to make it to the Arran or Campbeltown centres, you can still join from home. Choose from a Garden Design workshop, where you’ll learn about how to incorporate different shapes and colours into your own garden, or an interactive Computer Games Development session, where we’ll help to bring your gaming ideas to life.
The events are open to anyone in the local community who is considering college as their next step. Think college might be an option for someone you know? Whether you are a parent, carer, or teacher in the local area, we’re extending the invite to you to come and see what we’re all about.
Advance booking is required for all events, and with limited places at some of our sessions we recommend booking early so you don’t miss out. For further information and to book your place visit: www.argyll.uhi.ac.uk/openday.
