A film festival showing the culture and on-going conflict in Palestine is to be held in Corpach this summer.
The Lochaber: Palestine Film Festival is the idea of the Lochaber Supports Palestine (LSP) group and will take place on the evenings of Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14 in the Kilmallie Hall.
Presently, the film programme is still in development but will sourced from social action cinema charity Take One Action, as well as LSP’s own research and received recommendations.
Post-screening discussions on the works will be included in the event.
Established by Eddie Morgan and Marie Nolan, LSP started in December 2023 and operates alongside Inverness action group Highland - Palestine.
It has already held a series of events focused on the struggle for equal rights within the territory, including a candlelight vigil, a film screening, and talks featuring retired MSP John Finnie, Drew Hendry MP, Cllr Sarah Fanet, and David Sedgwick. (Link: spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/E9wJtm9rEJb)
Speaking on the upcoming festival, Mr Sedgwick said: “This will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about the situation in the West Bank, Gaza and Israel and discuss the present issues.”
