Youngsters with disabilities had the chance to sample a multitude of sporting activities when the Scottish Disability Sport (SDS) Parasport Festival rolled into town on Saturday September 28.
Co-ordinated by Kathryn Talbot-Heigh, SDS regional development manager, in partnership with Active Schools co-ordinators, the festival was aimed at children with a physical, visual or hearing impairment who attend mainstream school.
"It has been identified these groups are significantly under-represented when it comes to participating in weekly sport or physical activity," said Kathryn.
Sports clubs from the area and national governing bodies joined together to deliver sessions at Lochaber High School, Fort William Bike Park and Lochaber Leisure Centre.
Activities included Boccia - pronounced ’botcha’, bikes, rugby, shinty, bowling, paddle sports and swimming.
Speaking after the event, Kathryn said: "The day went really well with lots of smiles and happy faces.
"It was great to see the participants try new sports and gain confidence and skills.
"It is hoped they will maybe go on to regularly take part in an activity at a local club or session."
