The application, validated on June 13, was submitted by agent Great Glen Designs on behalf of Alexander Mackintosh, who is listed as the sole owner of the land.
Originally built in 1845, the hotel has been closed since the end of 2020.
Plans for the new self-catering unit display four living units, each with two floors. Downstairs in each unit includes a bathroom, kitchen unit, and living-dining room. Upstairs has two ensuite bedrooms.
The plans, covering 2,400 square metres, also propose four parking spaces, each with EV charging points.

One potential issue for the application is the presence of potentially contaminated land. A report submitted by the Highland Council as part of the application process states that two underground petrol tanks from a filling station attached to the hotel were filled in in 2013, but not decommissioned.
The report recommends no development occur until any potential contamination be identified and treated. It also notes the potential for asbestos in the old building.
Notice of the application was formerly given on Thursday June 22. Rules stipulate this is followed by 14 days for public comment and representation, which conclude on July 6. After this date the planning committee will make its recommendations or decision.
Kilmallie Community Council stated at its meeting on June 26 that it would not oppose the application.
The planning application reference for the proposal, viewable on the Highland Council planning application page, is 23/02309/FUL. The case officer is William Langdon.
Great Glen Designs and Alexander Mackintosh were contacted by the Lochaber Times, but had not replied at the time of going to press.
