Set in and around the play area in Kennedy Road, Fort William, face painting, football, a giant Connect 4 game, raffle, rodeo bull and a smoothie making bike meant there was plenty to do for the good turnout of people who went along.
The appearance of movie stars Mickey and Minnie Mouse surprised and delighted young children.
A plaque was unveiled in memory of the late Helen MacKenzie, a former chairperson of the Plantation Residents Group, who played a major role in securing funding for the playpark, which opened in April 2014.
Three members of the former committee unveiled the plaque on the gate to the play area after a brief speech by former councillor and present day PCA chairman Brian Murphy, to a group including members of Helen’s family and serving councillors Sarah Fanet and Kate Willis.
Karin Mackay of the Council Tenant Participation Team presented each of the former committee members with flowers saying Helen and her team had achieved tremendous things, with the new committee hoping to build on this with a number of new initiatives.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday November 8 at 6.30pm in the community hall. Everyone welcome.
