Kintyre Schools Pipe Band continued its contest season last Saturday, with a highly successful outing to Levengrove Park in Dumbarton for the Scottish Pipe Band Championships.
The band was up against 15 other Scottish bands and a visiting pipe band from Brisbane, Australia, in Novice Juvenile Grade. And, at the end of the day, Kintyre Schools were placed third in their grade.
Afterwards, Pipe Major Fiona Mitchell said: “We were really happy with that solid performance. A massive well done to all of these talented young people. And we got a lot of good pointers from the judges, which will now be put into practice as we build momentum for the Europeans and the Worlds.”
The band is in the middle of a busy spell and will be heading to the European Pipe Band Championships in Perth on Sunday August 11, followed by the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow on Saturday August 17.
