Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man who hid in bushes before following a teenage girl as she made her way home.
Officers in Fort William have launched a probe after the 16-year-old girl reported that a man had been trailing her at about 9pm on Thursday whilst she had been alone in the An Aird to Black Parks area.
The culprit is believed to have been hiding in undergrowth at the side of a trail that follows the shore between Inverlochy and Black Parks.
The girl says that he then followed and ran towards her near to Soldiers Bridge. He did not interact further, but his actions left her ’shaken and scared’, according to police.
The suspect is described as being in his 40s and was wearing dark shorts and a dark t-shirt at the time. His hair is dark, worn in a short pony tail, and short at the sides. It is thought that he had an eastern European accent.
A police spokesperson said: "Local officers are making ongoing attempts to trace the man.
"If you have seen anyone matching his description in this area, or can provide any further information, please contact 101 and quote incident 4026 of May 16."
