A fault in Scottish and Southern Energy’s (SSE) overhead network in the Bridge of Awe area caused the power to go off to 389 customers just after 4pm when the match between France and Croatia kicked off.
The Oban Times understands frustrated football fans had to jump into their cars to finish watching the game in bars and houses nearby.
SSE explained: ‘Our engineers were able to get the power back on for 240 customers just after 6pm. Mobile generation was brought in to restore the remaining supplies, and everyone was back on by 9.20pm
‘We would like to apologise to our customers who were affected by this power cut and assure everyone that our engineers did everything they could to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible.’
