Pupils U13s in final matches of first 11-a-side league

Campbeltown Pupils 2009s (under-13s) played their last two games of the season in recent weeks.

 

Both were away fixtures, first against a strong Dumbarton team and then against a Little Dynamos side looking to clinch the league title, having won every game so far.

 

The trip to Dumbarton saw the Pupils put in a battling performance, without creating any real chances on goal.

 

Much of the game was a tough midfield battle, but it was the Dumbarton team who made the most of the few opportunities, eventually running out 5-0 winners.

 

Last Sunday, the Pupils travelled to Castlemilk to play a Little Dynamos team looking to win the league with a game to spare.

 

The Pupils made a decent start, responding well after going a goal down, and a great move down the left between Kadyn Prentice, Jake McEachran and Jack Green saw Green rifle the ball home with a brilliant strike from just outside the box.

 

Green then hit the bar with another strike from distance, but that was as good as it got for the Pupils in a first-half they will want to forget, ending in a half-time score of 7-1.

 

The second half was much improved, with every Pupils player putting in 100 per cent effort.

 

Despite conceding four more goals, the Pupils found some consolation when Green scored his second of the game with another fine finish, before a brilliant run from McEachran down the right side resulted in a penalty which he calmly dispatched himself.

 

'This was the Pupils 2009s' last league game of their first season in 11-a-sides and, while it has been a difficult one playing in the second division out of four, they have competed and given their best in every game, and have undoubtedly improved as the season has gone on,' said a team spokesperson. 'The coaches, parents and especially the young players should all be proud of their efforts.'
