Finnart 6
GDYFL – U13s, Div 2
Campbeltown Pupils 2009s - under-13s - went down 6-2 to league leaders Finnart in their last home league game of the season.
The Pupils started positively last Sunday, putting their strong opponents under pressure, which saw the Campbeltown youngsters rewarded after 15 minutes when a breeze-assisted kick-out from keeper Alan Myles caught out the Finnart defence.
Pupils striker Jake McEachran reacted first and finished brilliantly from 30 yards, with a first time lob over the advancing goalkeeper.
The Kintyre side continued to pin back the opposition, with Jack Green’s pace down the left causing problems for the visitors, but it was Finnart who scored next, following a break and calm finish from their pacey forward.
Just before half-time, Finnart took the lead with a well-struck free kick from just outside the box.
The Pupils were still in the game coming out for the second half, but disaster struck with two poorly conceded goals in the first two minutes, making the rest of the half an uphill struggle.
Finnart made it five midway through the half, before the Pupils scored a second.
Logan Norris pressurised the keeper following a free kick from Ryan Johnston before McEachran pounced to score his second of the match.
The Pupils battled on gamely but, shortly before the end, Finnart made it six to put the game out of sight.
The young Pupils now have a few weeks off before their next game in May.
