The youngsters of Campbeltown and District Juvenile Football Association (CDJFA) are celebrating after netting almost £2,500.
A quiz, organised by the association, was held at Campbeltown Bowling Club on Saturday March 1, with quiz master Helen Gilchrist keeping a bumper crowd in line.
Through ticket sales and a raffle, the event raised £1,772, which was boosted by Helen and her Jolly Monday Show fundraising by £550.
A further £100 was added, bringing in a grand total of £2,422, thanks to the generosity of the quiz winners, who donated their prize money back to CDJFA.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” said a CDJFA spokesperson. “What a turnout.
“The committee would like to thank the following: everyone for coming, without whom this would not be possible; the fundraising committee and everyone who helped out; Helen Gilchrist for being the quiz master and boosting funds; all our parents/guardians for the fantastic raffle support; Wee Toon Trends, The Treehouse, The Courier Centre and Campbeltown Bowling Club for selling our quiz; Campbeltown Coop and Tesco for the table snacks and raffle prizes; Springbank Distillery for the bottle of 15-year-old whisky; the bowling club for providing venue, bar, bar staff (special mention to Susan for the assistance with the raffle); and Jason McCallum at Keeping it Local CIC for printing tickets.
“Thanks again to everyone for the support, it is very humbling to know so many people with no connections to CDJFA still want to come out and support our young players.”
