The first-floor former restaurant at 45 Main Street is the subject of an application to Argyll and Bute Council by Sam Martin.
A pre-application has previously been made to the authority’s planning officers, in February 2022, and considered to be within current policy.
A decision on the planning permission application is expected by mid-July, and comments can now be submitted by the public.
In a design statement, planning agent Andrew Jones said: “The proposal consists of removing the existing kitchen area, seating booths in the restaurant area, bar and toilets and creating an open plan living kitchen area, a single bedroom and a bathroom.”
The statement added: “The site is situated within the town centre conservation area but is not a listed building although there are listed buildings in the surrounding area.
“As the external works are basically repairs and repainting as per the original window frames and the entrance door alterations are minimal, then there will be an improvement to the building and it won’t impact on the listed buildings nor their settings. It also brings a redundant space back into use.”
