A Campbeltown festival would not be complete without at least one performance from Rhuvaal, which has become a must-see band on the national festival scene since forming in Kintyre in 2015.
This year, the Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOKFest) is delighted to have the band as support for Trail West, Live Act of the Year at the 2023 Scots Trad Music Awards, at the Glen Scotia West Coast Rocks Concert on Saturday August 24.
Opening the concert are the Laurettes, an all-female four piece indie folk fusion band with a Celtic rock twist.
Rhuvaal are a young, fun and energetic traditional band based in Argyll, with three members hailing from Kintyre. The band have grown and developed over the past nine years into a group of enthusiastic young adults who are making a huge impression on the traditional music scene in Scotland.
Supported by an ever-increasing loyal fanbase, the band continue to grow in popularity and experience playing at festivals all over Scotland and supporting various bands including Skipinnish, Tide Lines and Mànran.
They made their first ever appearance overseas at Triskell Celtic Festival in Italy and are continuing to write and arrange new material in preparation for a busy 2024.
The five-day MOKFest has seven ticketed concerts, headlined by artists including Trail West, Dougie MacLean, Katie Macfarlane, Grouse Ceilidh Band, The Canny Band, The Sarachs, Slainte Davaar Allstars and Kintyre Schools Pipe Band.
Tickets for all concerts are available online at www.mokfest.com – where there is more information about the festival – or locally from AP Taylor on Campbeltown’s Main Street.
